Student Work Permits: What You Need to Know

All students under 18 years of age who wish to work must obtain a work permit. Federal and State laws govern the number of hours a minor may work while school is in session.

We’re here to make the process simple! Follow these steps:


How to Get a Work Permit

  1. Secure a Job
    You must first be hired by an employer.
  2. Get the Application
    • Pick up a Work Permit Application from the school office, or
    • Download it online.
  3. Complete All Sections
    • Student: Fill out your portion.
    • Parent/Guardian: Sign the application.
    • Employer: Complete their section.
  4. Submit the Application
    • Bring the completed application to your school guidance technician.
    • We will verify your GPA (must be 2.0 or higher).
    • If approved, we will issue and sign your official Work Permit.

During Summer, Winter, and Spring Break

  • Email a PDF copy of your completed application to the District Office Student Support.
  • Allow up to 48 hours for processing—plan ahead!
